La Jolla Along the Beach

The waves were between 5 and 10 feet high, but seem smaller in the photo’s.   There were kids with surf boards, and folks walking the rocky beach.  Parking spaces were at a premium.

We drove along from the downtown area and to the South along the neighborhoods.  Once we were a couple of miles from downtown, we found parking areas that occasionally had openings.  Eventually we parked and enjoyed the sunny day.

The waves rolled in, whooosh, whooosh, whooosh……….   the kids paddled their boards out into the waves.  Up, up, and over.  Occasionally they wiped out in the rolling white water.  And then when the just right wave came, they stood and rode the wave back toward shore.

As they came closer to the rocky beach, they would turn and ride up over the wave and fall into the surf.  Then the process began again.  My eyes became heavy……. the hour that passed was peaceful as we both slept.  Whoosh……..

We awakened when a car drove up on the drivers side.  Just like that we were back in reality.

The rest of the afternoon was spent driving around back into San Diego, passed Sea World, which was quite busy.  Loyce went to Jo-Ann’s and found some items for her project.  Next we drove over to Old Town.  Last we went to another quilt store in the South part of La Mesa.  Loyce didn’t like that one too much.

Tonight, we went to Fuddruckers.  We found it back down in La Mesa at a shopping center.  The meal was exactly as a Fudds should be,  sweet potato fries and all.

I must clear up something, as last night I said that our day was a super bowl type of day, where we didn’t accomplish anything, since we had spent the day in front of the TV.  Evidently it was construed that I felt that the Canadian Hockey Team hadn’t accomplished anything.  Nothing could be farther from our feelings and the truth.  The best team won the game, and we agree with the outcome.  They played with all the tenacity required to make them winners and champions.

The US team played as winners too, almost beyond their skills, tying the score at the end.  The Canadian team was forced to reach inside and move beyond their efforts scoring in only 7 minutes.  A true gold medal performance.  Congratulations to all Canadians!

  3. Hi Rod, I took your "nothing accomplished" statement exactly as you meant it, referring to the fact that on Super Bowl Days nothing else ever seems to get done except just sitting in front of the TV all day. I certainly didn't take it as an insult to the Canadian Gold Medal that's for sure as I thought you were a lot more generous than I might have been had Canada lost - horrors!!

Nice pictures of the beach - nice way to spend a few hours including a little siesta!

  4. SO GLAD YOU MADE IT TO LA HOYA=I LOVED THAT PLACE-ESPECIALLY ALL THE QUAINT BEACHES. IT IS SUCH A RELAXING PLACE! THE DAY I WENT TO LA HOYA WERE HUNDREDS OF SCHOOL KIDS LEARNING TO SNORKEL AT 4PM ON A WEEK DAY-AND PEOPLE WERE ALL OVER THE PLACE SITTING ON BLANKETS-JUST ENJOYING THE OCEAN AND THE BEAUTY OF THE PLACE! JUST WISHED YOU COULD HAVE SEEN THE SUN SET AT THE NATIONAL PARK-GORGEOUS! HAVE TO BEEN TO THE DEL HOTEL YET?
