After 4 years and 1500 posts, I have finally reached 100 followers..... Most folks get 100 followers in their first 6 months. So it is fairly obvious that I am not too interesting, and folks that find the blog loose interest before they ever become a follower.
Perhaps that is because I don't use a lot of pictures, but I do have almost as many pictures as I do have posts, but they tend to be all at once and days until I get motivated to take more. I do enjoy taking photos, but somewhere in the downloading and editing and cropping I tend to loose interest.
But what I started as a way to keep the family up on what we were up to when we were away from home, is well over the top. I see that the counter at the bottom of the page is over 162,000. And that is quite a few for my poor writing skills.
Any way, I would like to thank all of you folks that take your time each day to read my humble words. There are a lot of blogs out there and I follow a bunch myself, but you run out of time to read them all so I understand that spending time reading is a conscious choice. Again thanks for being on board.
I promised that we would be out and about learning more about this RV park, but when we woke up this morning the wind was a torrent. Our automatic awning did not retract in the wind, so it was shaking the entire RV. The temperatures were in the early 50s even though the sun was shining brightly. We stayed inside, and so did everyone else around here.
In the middle of the afternoon, I went out and began working on the utility trailer. The tip over boat jack on the tongue does not retract far enough to tilt it when its on the car. Works fine on the Motor home because it is so high off of the ground. So I have to get a second jack out and raise the trailer to tilt the jack down. A jack to use the jack........... Something needs to change here......
After removing the bolts out of the clamp on the tilt jack, and changing the holes that the bolts used, I thought I had it. But that's when I learned the bolts were cross threaded... This added a couple of hours to the project. It wouldn't go back together......
Finally I was up at Ace Hardware looking for new bolts and nuts to put the thing back together. It should work, as I planned but I ran out of daylight to test the new adjustments. But the wind did die down when the sun went down, so everything isn't lost for the day...
Also I really can't explain much more about this park than I knew last night, other than it is almost totally quiet here. We are now almost 2 miles North of Highway 60 the superstition freeway. This makes so much difference. Also we are not in a park with 1,800 sites which reduces the traffic in and out since we have always been close to the entrance over at VDO. I could put my lawn chair out in the middle of the street here, and not be bothered for half an hour with a car coming along.
Also the character of this park is quite a bit older, as there are a bunch of older park models in here. Many are the old rounded trailers from the 50s, but mostly it is not junky around these older units. There must be some rules that are not provided to transients about being permanent guests.
Anyway Loyce declared that she likes this place. I think because it is so laid back, without the starched and pressed rules and self appointed enforcers. Also no dog streets, here every street is a dog street......and she likes being free to go anywhere with Biscuit.
But these are only first impressions..........Time will tell......

I HAD THE TIME RIGHT BUT I HAD THE DAY WRONG

Hi Rod..I'd make it 101..I read you almost every day...But I guess I'm just a lurker..I'm too old to figure out all this Google stuff..So keep on posting, there may be others out here like me.
ReplyDeletetake care, Upriverdavid
Hi Rod, Want you to know how much I enjoy reading your blog each day. Keep up the good work. You write just fine. It is like sitting outdoors with a cool drink and listening to a friend describe his day. I like that.
ReplyDeleteTake care my friend, and keep writing.
I have had a lot of blogs come & go on my sidebar over the years & my blog reading has dropped off this past winter but yours is still here & when I get up in the morning yours is generally at the top of the list & the first one I read. I have a handful of folks left who I regularly check on & you are one of them:)) I don't leave as many comments on blogs as I once did but, well here I am again. Congrats on the 100 Followers big guy:))
ReplyDeleteWay to go Rod, You & Rick & Al are always for some reason right at the top of my morning list when I start reading, I try not to miss a day, I don't comment as much either, maybe I'm self conscience of putting to many comments in, but I do manage to let you know I'm still reading, Be safe out there buddy, the liberty's good. Sam & Donna..
ReplyDeleteI have been a lurker for a long time. Its time to step up and be counted. My husband and I are casual rvers, have taken several long trips in our Dodge diesel and 35' trailer but we also like to spend time in COE parks closer to home. we enjoy reading your blog, it is one of the first we read every morning.
ReplyDeleteHey Rod - you know I'm out here reading every day. I just hit 100 followers last year and I have less than 50,000 views so you're way ahead of me. I love the fact that your park is all dog friendly. Our pet portion is only the back row but its close to the back gate where we can go out and walk the girls. Don't be surprised if we just happen to swing by and see if you're home some day.
ReplyDeleteThis park sounds much better-more quaint! And hey, those old "50's" campers are the big rave now! Even Dad's "Utopia" camper is now considered vintage! I do like pictures-esp when they are of Biscuit, grandchildren, my sis, and the lake! Your blog is like reading the morning paper-and I don't take the paper anymore! Leroy would be proud of your writing skills...and keeping it going! Go Rod!
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm just a lurker too since I don't subscribe to your blog. I just read it all the time. So...you can add another to your count.
ReplyDeleteYou do just fine with all your writing!
Emjay
Howdy Rod,
ReplyDeleteWhy would you want a park where you can't 'walk around'?? I CRAVE QUIET!
As for the 'bikers' HOG people are
like the Goldwingers ; NO ONE MEASURES UP TO THEM!! Even when I rode Goldwings they had to be a 'newer' model or they looked down their noses!! I joined a Rider Magazine group and there was everything in it.. They were good folks.. I also did a lot of solo riding or 2-up!! If I haven't been counted: COUNT ME IN!!!
