I watched football games for most of the day, but couldn't stand it by mid afternoon. Loyce was out washing the cars, on a burst of wild energy most of the afternoon, when I decided I needed to go to Wal Mart.
Our Wal Mart is only about one and a half miles away, and is reachable thru the neighborhood streets. So I grabbed the Camry and left. Of course Loyce doesn't approve, but who's asking?
Anyway I got over there and parked alright. Once into the store, it seemed way bigger today than before, but I was determined, so I grabbed a cart to lean on as I pushed and away I went. I did fairly well selecting all my groceries and stuff.
But the place was swamped with checkout customers. I was way back in line, and about died while getting to the counter. The old incision began to burn, and I wanted to get it over with. But I stuck it out, and made it home with my stuff.
Tonight we went over to my son Chris' home for some supper, and the car ride was way more bumpy than I expected. It shakes the insides and jars things a bunch, teaching me that I am not ready to make any long trips in the near future!
Oh well some more time driving the recliner!!!!!! Never was good at staying in one place for very long..........

Rod, you remind me of me, the few surgeries I've had, (gall bladder, hernia) I pushed to get out as soon as possible, just be careful doing that. looks to me like your finding your limits . which is good. Enjoy that recliner for a few more weeks. your friends, Sam & Donna
ReplyDeletePatience Rod...but easier said than done. Give yourself some more time. You'll be back to your old/new self in no time.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean Rod! Sounds like my first trip to Walmart after my surgery. I'm not good at being patient either!!
ReplyDeleteWow! That's quite the little excursion you had there, and then to go out in the evening again. It sounds like you are getting better by leaps and bounds even though it is a painful process. Sounds to me like some recliner recovery time is in order for Sunday!
ReplyDeleteAt least you went out, and got back. I'd say that's a pretty big accomplishment, and now you don't have to try it again until you are feeling much better.
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't try to go horse back riding tomorrow! :)
ReplyDeleteRod...listen to the nurse...slow down! :) You body needs time to heal and it will do it a lot quicker if you don't extend yourself so much. And, good grief, do not drive.
ReplyDeleteI've been away from the internet for four days and I'm so glad to see how well you're doing. Be careful lifting groceries though!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you are doing alright. Wally World is like a magnet...Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteI would be doing the same thing Rod, chomping at the bit to get out the door & do something. One time after foot surgery I cut the bottom out of a big tomato soup can, put the can over my foot with some padding, duct taped it all together & went outside to shovel snow. Yep, I know how your feeling.
