After driving 20 or more hours in two days, today was a day to just lay back... But not completely, as I needed to put our KC cable TV system on vacation hold....
That shouldn't be too bad, just call um up.... Ya, right.... The first call was spent trying to decide which of their menu options matched putting the service on vacation... Obviously that wasn't one of their choices and when I finally chose one, it had taken too long and they hung up on me...
Then next time I was 16th in the cue and the cell phone system went down during the playing of the awful music... I was left with time spent and not a thing accomplished..
The next time I waited about a half an hour to get some of the people worked out, and then called selecting a different menu number... A guy answered and was totally a technical fellow... He transferred me back to the number menu, where I was way down the cue again...
I thought I might have to spend all day at this..... But then I got the idea to just call back and ring a zero for the operator... I explained that I was going around in circles with the menu system and large numbers of callers...
She said she would take care of me, and did so in about 3 minutes.... Well now, just like that it was over....
By then the sun was out having burned the clouds and overcast off... The day was rather cool by Arizona standards at 54 degrees but remember we just came from below freezing as a daily high, so it was almost warm to us... Well in the sun anyway.
The rest of the day was spent unpacking clothes and lots of stuff and a trip to Wal Mart for perishables...
In the afternoon, I made some Chicken Tortilla soup with a bag of Dorito's for the tortilla part... That and some fresh cheese made such a good meal that we didn't have anything else...
Tonight we are plagued with party goers across our back fence where they shot off tons of fireworks making smoke that permeated the entire house.. They had sparkler type rockets that launched hot sparks up into the air.. At least the roof here is tile.... Biscuit was hiding in the walk in closet off of our bedroom...
I could recap all the things that happened in this last year, but for me the biggest was not having the cancer come back after last year's surgery... After that the rest is just small accomplishments.... I thank the lord that he allowed me to live for a while longer....

Sometimes it helps if you tell the person your so frustrated if you don't get to the right person your going to kill yourself. Then rack in a 45 for effect so they can hear it. Didn't work for me last time as the guy said he would transfer me back to the automated system, if that didn't work try to make one shot count.Hey just kidding. be safe out there. Sam & Donna..
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Rod and Loyce--may be be another healthy one!
ReplyDeleteYour absolutely right about your health being the number 1 priority, Rod, everything else is small stuff.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your year ended with another of your wonderful stories of bureaucratic indifference and bungling. I'm looking forward to another year of your adventures with KC licencing, insurance and cable company hassles.
2013 is going to be a great year for both you and Jim. We had a few fireworks but if they shot them off at midnight we sure didn't hear them. Happy New Year.
