Missing in action

I have been missing in action on the blog front around here for the last week or so....  I guess I was down in the blogging dumps, as the big motor cycle trip event that will be this years high lite isn't of much interest to my blog readers...

People going to the site and reading about the trip are down to less that half of normal blog entries where I didn't have much to report....  Just saying that you took a  motorcycle trip seems to preclude people from even clicking on your blog....  Now had I driven the big lumbering motorhome getting 9 miles to the gallon.........

So this is one of those posts where I don't have much to report...  We took a lunch ride out to Richmond, Mo on the North side of the Missouri river about 40 miles East of KC...  This is to a Mexican restaurant where the people serving you are truly spanish speaking fellows....  They look at you kind of funny when they don't understand what you are asking for.....  But when I changed to my very poor Spanish and asked for Coke dieta con mas heilo it came rather quickly...

See my time in the US Southwest hasn't gone completely to waste..

On Wednesday it rained for most of the morning so we sat around in McDonalds....   I had caught heck over driving the jeep the last time to the lunch, so we decided to just not go...  And there were thirty or more folks that did brave the storm.  Just not me...

Then on Thursday it was back to the Hospital here in KC for the annual tests that you can't study for... as a cancer survivor..  They always have trouble starting an IV on me, and this day wasn't any different...   At one point they had blood running down my arm and dripping from my fingers...  Maybe I wasn't helping too much, when I made the comments about the floor looking like an axe murder...  Ya I have a weird sense of humor...

But the verdict was that I am free of the cancer for now...  And I get to wait a whole year now before returning for yet another procedure...  The Doctor said it was time that I gave up the professional patient badge....  See he has the same sense of humor....

Otherwise its just life as usual her in KC.... Pay the bills and mow the yard....  Oh, we did go to the lake over last weekend...

That trip was mostly to change the oil in the pontoon boat's engine and take the jet ski out of the water for yet another year...  We set the furnace on really low heat for the winter and cleaned out the fridge..  Old items in the freezer are never good after six months, so we have learned to toss them now...

Biscuit and I are hanging in there for now and still have no idea when we will go West this year, but it can't be too far off...

  1. Glad to hear you got another clean bill of health even though you had to pay the bill to prove it.
As far as falling readership it goes in waves but it is also the way you title your post. Don't title it another ride but naming the place you visited.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

    1. Thank you for the Aussie hit on the blog.... I've never been that far South... Only Viet Nam and that was back in the dark ages.....

  3. I am always interested in your bike rides, so I guess I will have to visit two or three times to get those numbers back up. Good to hear you have been chased out of the clinic and sent on your way for the next year. Not sure when we are heading south as Brenda's knee is not healing as quickly as we would like and it is difficult for her to travel at this point.

Fall is definitely in the air here at Dogpound North, what with our early September snow and some more recents winds and rain our leaves are carpeting the ground rather than shading us now.

  4. Well, I check every single day to see what you have been up to, so I sure don't cause any numbers to change! I am glad to know that you are doing well. I am very well acquainted with the problem of seek & find veins. Been there too many times. Anyway, good that you got it over with one more time, and came with good results to boot! Suppose the weather will make the decision about when you head west. I remember that you act quickly! One day in KC, maybe the next in AZ! Take care.

  5. Good to hear you got a clean bill of health and can play for another year.

I agree the title is a key to how many look at your post. My average is twenty views, but I do not have a fascinating blog.

I have ridden bikes my whole life and most times as a loner, just never found poker runs interesting. I do know you have a great time on the road though.

    1. Tom we all ride to the towns individually rather than in a poker run format.... Everyone comes from different starting points all over the area, so we gather together at the restaurant.... Sometimes several of us will meet up and go together, but only three or so.....

  6. Rod, glad you were able to check out of your medical appointment with such great news..... CONGRATULATIONS !!! I have been traveling and did not check in so that's my excuse and my reason to be counted among the missing.... I always enjoy the bike rides and the towns you visit....keep those trips coming ... When I was young in KC, Richmond Missouri was known for huge chicken farms ....they went on for miles and miles... Did you see any?
Glad you are gearing up to travel and head to the southwest ..... Keep having fun !!!

    1. I don't remember any chicken farms but they are more on the rural roads... We stay on hard surfaces with the bikes....

  7. Nice to hear that you're free from Cancer. That's a relief, I'm sure.
I too have a bit of an odd sense of humour when being poked or prodded. I seem to recall referring to one of the polyps being removed as "Looking like a wee haggus". The team "behind me" were stifling a couple chuckles. Is it nerves, do you think? May as well laugh as cry about it, I always say.

  8. I agree with a couple of the folks about blog titles. I must admit I skim down my sidebar checking titles on blog's first to see if something jumps out & grabs me. There is much to be said for titles. On rainy days maybe if you titled your blog. 'Got My Ass Wet; it might grab some attention. Bet it's a great feeling to get an annual bill of clean health especially after the cancer. Maybe see you around somewhere this winter but not likely we will ever get anywhere near Phoenix. Well not voluntarily anyway...............

  9. Getting out on the road, by Bike, RV, Jeep, walking...doesn't matter, it's living. I always read your blog, if you are counting. I enjoy seeing the "guys on the road" where you stop and the interesting places you eat. I will be starting my RV'ing next month, and yes a few butterflys, but no fear.

  10. I can hardly wait for Jim to reach the "I don't want to see you for another year" point. Way to go. I've given up trying to figure out when or why people read my blog. And I'm so far behind on reading and posting that I may never catch up.

  11. Glad you got a clean bill of health. I live in Iowa so I feel close to the places you ride and I read with interest. Safe travels down South. One of these years I will get to do that too.
