It was almost 8 AM this morning before the workers arrived ready to spread the 30 Ton pile of rock around the back yard... I was going thru all the moaning and groaning that they weren't going to show up again.... But Loyce was confident that they wouldn't leave all that gravel in the street....
We were very hot again today as it was about 104 here at the house and these four guys worked like troupers on that pile of gravel rock in the street. One wheel barrow at a time it went into the back yard over the now completely dry slab around the back side of the garage....
They piled the piles about every 3 feet heading back for another load.... Tipping the wheel barrow over on its side against the rock pile and shoveling the rock down the hill... Kind of ingenious as I know I would have been lifting every scoop up over the side of the barrow...
Eventually the piles in the yard were spread out with a rake and the big load in the street was gone. They even took the garden hose and washed down the rock so it would be more gray colored like the gravel in the front of the house... At first I thought we had a different color, but no its the same, as they spread some of the rocks on bare spots out front too.
Now we have to wait until the bushes and trees arrive, and the workers had no idea when that would be... They just told me to call the boss if they didn't come back tomorrow....
When we get the plants this project will be finished as well, but we aren't sure when that will be... But then as Loyce said, they will want the rest of the money so they will not drag it out too long....
I spent the day assembling some more of the tables and things we purchased, trying not to be out and bothering the worker all the time.... But late in the afternoon as they were cleaning up, I went out with the hose and washed off the concrete patio with all the dust from the dust storms last weekend... That really made things seem a lot nicer right away....
I'll take pictures when we get some bushes as a bare gravel yard isn't much to look at...

Progress is a good thing. Now if you could just have progress is lowering those temperatures.
ReplyDeleteFour guys moving 30 tons of rock sure sounds like a full day's work to me - especially in that heat. Looking forward to seeing some pics when this is all done.
