So how's that going to work?

Again it was a weird day on the telephones to Arizona today.  It seems that we are either waiting for, or talking to, those folks all day long.  They have changed security system providers, and in mid stream we have a contract for the old system and those folks can no longer provide service.

They have moved from the Phoenix area.  We can't get their equipment if we want it.  But their home office out in the East has decided to give us the run around on the contract for service we signed saying that we can't get out of the payments for the next three years...........?

"Let's see, we have to pay for a product that you can't provide?"   "Yes you do!"  a young customer service representative told me this afternoon.    I countered with the comment that she didn't really think I would make such a payment did she............?

Then the job foreman called and informed us that we had to be there to overlook things a week from Friday........  The 13th of April.........  Loyce took that call.......   I called our realtor and sales lady in the builder's front office to confirm and see if we couldn't get a few more days since they didn't give us much notice.

She called the foreman wanting to know what was up and he denied that he had made such a request to Loyce.......  claiming that we wouldn't be needed for three or more weeks...............  What?

And on top of that, I received conflicting emails to the whole phone conversations.........  Heck, we don't know what we are to do now.............!

Then we found that the condensate drip on our AC in the basement here in the KC house was plugged and had run water all over our floor in the basement.  And even had a corner of our new carpet wet...  It has been overwhelmingly humid this last couple of days.

So the furnace had to come apart this afternoon about supper time while the rusticle plugs were cleared from the drip trays and plastic hoses over to the drain.   I think I have that running free now......  But it will have to be watched fairly carefully in the next few days.......

Lets hope all of this gets resolved in the next few days, or we will have no choice but to return to Arizona in an emergency mode.    Oh, they did say that the rough in of the wood structure would be officially complete tomorrow, or today as you read this.

That  means all the windows are now in the building and the roofing paper is on the roof.  Next up are the trades as they call them.  Plumbers, electricians and hvac folks.  Once all of that is complete and they begin to hang insulation we will have to go back for the open wall walk thru.  And I would bet that will be in the next three weeks or so.

Perhaps the foreman's time line won't be all that far off in the long run anyway.

No Fireworks Tonight!

I think everyone in this neighborhood just turned out the lights and went to bed.  Right from the start, Kansas looked like it was overwhelmed with the play of Kentucky.  And while the game plan all year was catch up ball, that wouldn't be a good plan tonight.

So National Champion we are not tonight, but first runner up we are.......  And when the kids wake up in the morning, perhaps the magnitude of their accomplishments this year will see them thru until another season begins.

Our day here was a bunch of paperwork while I determined the first of the month bills and went on line to get them paid.   We never did hear from the builder people today, so I have no new pictures from the construction site.  I would speculate that the rough in is complete at this point and the roof folks are unrolling the tar paper.  I have no confirmation of that fact though.

I was told last week that the sales folks have been told not to promise any new completion dates to potential customers this summer, and that prices on our home have risen 13 K since we signed.  Also every lot in our portion of the sub division has now been sold.  Even though people have paid the down payments, they will have to wait for their turn to begin the project.

Wow, that makes it sound like we were lucky to have made a fast decision and sign the papers when we did.

Around here I went out in the afternoon heat and rode the red scooter over to Wendy's about the time we reached 86 degrees this afternoon.  The humidity has been about 70 percent all day so it felt warmer than it really was.

After the late lunch, I rode over to my son Chris' house to see the new floor project that he is currently working on.  Their ice maker ran water on the kitchen floor in the middle of the night and ruined their old wood floor, so he has been working diligently on the replacement.

Riding the little bike is quite a let down after spending so much time on its big brother, but its only for a few weeks............. I keep telling myself.......!

Lazy Sunday....

Boy it made 84 today and the AC has been working overtime.  The windows in this house are mostly the kind that don't open up, so not starting the AC isn't in the cards.  Seems awfully early to be running the AC but then I think the two story house would swelter without it.

Last year when we had those days of over 100, even with the AC running full tilt, the upstairs was hard to sleep in.  We could move to the new basement this year now that we have carpet and a bathroom down there........  Hum,   a thought to ponder.....

I was up and at em before the 8 AM bell this morning, but since it was Sunday, I waited until after 9 to go out and start the mower.  First the two cycle push job around the foundation and perimeter of the yard for trimming.  And if that doesn't get a flower pot tossed at me from the neighbors upper windows then its time to start ole John Deere....   It was about 9:30 by then.

So quick work of the yard kept me out of the 80s while I ran the mowers....  Later this year we will be praying for it to get down in the 80s so I need to get my blood thinned out some.

Not much else happened around here other than riding the little red Kymco scooter over to my son's house for a while this afternoon to see the grand kids and family.  We were messing around out in the street while the kids were playing but it got a bit hot out in the sun, so I had to head back home.

I should have started on those taxes, but procrastination is a terrible thing and it has set in here big time.    But it is now April, and they have to be completed, so I will need to get over that...........

Happy April Fools Day!  Hope no one pulled any big pranks on you!

Kansas is in the Championship Game!

Its 10:30 here in Kansas, and the fireworks are booming all over the neighborhood!!!!   While the neighbors went about their normal business all day here mowing the lawns and washing the cars, there was a sense of tension in the air.

Almost in every household out here in the suburbs, one of the family members is a J Hawk and with a collective sigh of relief, the  J Hawks are into the NCAA championship game against Kentucky.  If you saw the game you will know that Kansas trailed several times at 13 points down and trailed the entire game.

In the second half, they rallied and pulled even a couple of times only to have Ohio go up again by 5 with only a couple of minutes left.  But then there seemed to be a lid on the Ohio basket because their shots didn't fall.

There goes some more aerial bombs...... I think the Kansas folks are happy!

The TV just showed the students going crazy in downtown Lawrence.  The streets are filled with kids celebrating.........   But remember there is one more game, and Kentucky is one heck of an opponent!!!
