Darned Leak....

We seem to be in the heat of summer now, as the AC drones on almost all day without ever stopping.....  That turned out to be awfully pricey last summer....  But our neighbors across the street had their compressor burn out...

And the companies are weeks behind replacing units.....   She told me maybe they will get it replaced by next Thursday....   I told her I felt sorry for her, but she said it wasn't so bad, as they have been living in the basement...

I have been living in the repair zone, myself...  Brought the motorhome over here to the street in front of the house....  The neighbors hate that ...  But the batteries are almost flat from not having any electricity in the storage lot...

So this morning I was outside at 8 AM before it became overwhelmingly hot, and washed the rig all the way around...  I had my bucket and brush on a pole, along with the pressure washer...  It does an OK job as long as you overlook the water spotting from our hard water...

Then in the afternoon, I went after that dog gone leaking toilet...  Longer term readers will remember that I had the loo rebuilt down in Arizona a couple of years ago..  And the toilet itself worked fine after that....... But!

The water inlet hose seemed  to seep... Just a little.....  Enough to be annoying but not catastrophic..   But when you get up in the middle of the night, it is surprising to stand in a puddle...  We'd throw an old towel in it...

Well today was the day...  I had the little volcano shaped washers and everything....   But replacing them netted the same leak...  I couldn't see anything that was broken but took the old plumbers adage to replace everything in sight....

So I drove back out to the RV repair place and purchased a new elbow fitting of a later design..  Doesn't use a clamp, but rather has a tapered nut that cinches the pipe...  I think it was designed for PEX pipe, but the guy at the parts place said they have had good luck with them even on plastic hose...

We only have 15 amp circuits here in the garage, so no AC in the coach while I was installing all of this...  It was almost as hot as riding that motorcycle the other day....

But so far it doesn't leak.....  Under city pressure from the hose on the house...

Yea,,,,,!

  5. I have to tackle the flush valve for the same reason. Like you, I have been finding every excuse in the book to avoid it. Old fat men shouldn't be lying on their sides, wrestling with plumbing. Congrats to you, sir, for your success.

  6. My buddy - the plumber. Way to go. The weather up here has really been quite nice so far this summer. Windy and lots of t-storms but we usually only have to use the air in the afternoons for a few hours.

  7. Don't ya just hate water leaks? I do and I have a heck of a time with any plumbing. I think it was you, Rod, who told me last time that I should replace all parts to fix a leak in one of our bathroom sinks and it worked! Hope you have dry floors in the morning.
