Lake Ozark in the Rain.

As the sun came up this morning it looked like it was going to be a nice sunny day.  And by about 7 the sun was shining under the cloud deck off at the horizon...  And that was all we saw of the sun for the rest of the day.

As it rose further, it went up into that nasty overcast and the day turned into one of those gray days that make you feel all dreary.  We mostly browsed the internet with our computers waiting out the clouds to clear so we could do outside lake activities......

We waited and read for most of the morning...  I busied myself installing cabinet pulls on some of our cabinets that need them.  You have to mark and drill ever so accurately so it is tedious work that keeps your mind busy.

But it was useless, as the clouds became even more thick and billowy.  So we changed plans and packed up the car and cleaned up for town.  We just lock up the house like we are going back to KC and head into town.

Loyce has had her dreams answered when it comes to Lake Ozark, as they have opened a new JoAnn fabric store.  She turned and told me that we can now move to the Lake if we want to for more of a full time, because of the JoAnn's being there.

I left her at the store and went for the local Wendy's.  We were gone for at least 30 minutes, but she didn't notice that at all.  She takes her fabric store time very seriously.  But while we were gone, it began to rain.  This day isn't improving much.  Loyce is all excited telling me about the stuff she just bought when I return.....  Rain, what rain?

Well anyway, we end up at the new Menard's super center that has opened up in the Lake area last week.  It's like a Lowe's and a Home Depot all rolled together with a Payless Lumber Center added on out back.  I was looking for Hunter ceiling fan's and they have a good inventory at much better prices than those other stores.  Two of them found their way into the back of our SUV.

These fans will be installed into the Great Room and the Master Bedroom of the new Arizona house.

By this time it was raining even harder, so we set out on the trip back to KC.  Three and a half hours later we were back here at the house.

Our daughter in law had a little accident while out camping this weekend and has a nasty sprain on her ankle, so tomorrow we will have the kids while they go for medical treatment for her.  They will be here fairly early, so I had better hang this keyboard up and turn in..

Lamenting about the home build, and pictures save the day!

I have decided to change the blog header back to the view of the Lake from our deck here in Lake Ozark.  This picture really defines our life in the spring and early summer.  It is the time we enjoy here every year.  Once it gets beyond the Fourth of July, the lake becomes 100 degrees of summer heat, and we are looking to escape..

Of course it doesn't help to go back to KC as the heat is just the same there, plus it is a city which holds the heat once the sun goes over the hill.  We need the motorhome to escape during that part of the year.

But for now, looking at that unfinished picture of the Mesa, Az home is just increasing my anxiety about not being out there watching the progress....  But then it is way over 100 degrees now in Arizona, so do we really want to go back now?

Later in the day......

After writing this earlier in the day, the realtor lady must have felt her nose twitch, because she went over and took some more pictures..  But best of all she said they were working on the roof tile!!!  Yea.

The floor tile is done and must have been cleaned because it now shines.  Grouting causes it to be all hazy.

The cabinets are supposed to be fruitwood, but look dark to us.  We are hoping it is just the cell phone camera.

Counter tops are now installed as well, but no plumber since there are no faucets.

We do hope to paint the walls darker once we get possession.  They seem stark white in these photos.

As I notice in the picture below, the electrical wall plates are on and the switches have been mounted.

Again her camera phone is way out of focus, but this vanity is supposed to be taller than older style vanities.

I see that there is a light fixture above the vanity and a plate on the wall to the right of the sink, so the electricians must have been in all the rooms as well.

This is the Jack and Jill bathroom between what would normally be the kids rooms.  We left the vanity lower in here, since kids are usually shorter....  LOL

The tile color is supposed to be a tan, but the picture isn't colored right...  At least we hope so.

Anyway for those that want these pictures when we get them, here they are.  And I will be pleased to see a picture from the outside when the roof is completed.  But the forecast is for 110 degrees in Phoenix today, so I wonder how these fellows can stand to install roof tile..........

Mowing when I can see again....

Well at least today I could see things again when I got up this morning.  I'm not sure I ever really got over the drops even when I went to bed last night.  It was kind of raining again last night, and it was very cool outside. So this morning it was still chilly.

But our yard needed mowing again as we wanted to leave for the weekend.  So by about 10 AM, I was out in the yard running the walk behind mower.  That kept me warm for a while, until our neighbor's father from South Africa came over to chat.  He hasn't been here in the States since last year, so he was quite chatty.

Again, I was trying to get this job done so we could leave town.   But being socially polite I chatted him up for a while. Eventually he let me get back at my work.  But it was well after noon when I finished the yard.

It was almost 2 PM when we got on the road heading back down here to the lake place.  And since it takes three and a half hours, we arrived about 5:30. As creatures of habit, we were into town for our Friday night Bar B Cue by 7.  I guess it is all so predictable since we do this almost every week.  But we really like the smoked sausage diner that these folks put out.

This weekend we are all by ourselves as our family has gone on separate camping excursions.

But the lake is still here, and I am still sitting here staring out the windows at it.  Life is good.......  Maybe it will be warm in the morning......

Eye Doctor

It doesn't seem to matter what kind of a Doctor you are going to see during a day, it seems to wreck the entire day.  My eye appointment was at 11:30 so it wasn't any big thing to get ready.  Actually I had to sit and read blogs for about an hour before I left.

The drive over there wasn't any big deal because it is less than a mile in the strip mall.  It took less than ten minutes to arrive and park.

Waiting for the Doctor to take me in was filled with about four pages of medical information and insurance forms.  I just barely got them done and he was ready.

It seemed all OK, and was going just fine............until.....he wanted to dilate my eyes.  He used both kinds of drops, and that allowed him to see all around inside my eyes....  Well that seemed OK as long as we were in the dark room for the exam......!

But when I went out to work on my new glasses with the technician,  Whoa!!  And it was even a somewhat overcast day.......  I managed to use my clip on sun glasses and drive the car home.  But I was glad that it was under a mile now....

So I sat here most of the afternoon struggling to read the computer thru the sunnies, and never left the house until about 4.  This time on the motor scooter.  I just went for that Wendy's burger and that is under a mile too.  I had the sunglasses on as well as my helmet smoked wind screen.  Still I was groggy and couldn't focus much on stuff.

I came right back and sat here for the rest of the afternoon. Seems that both kinds of drops have their own side effects, and I was experiencing all of it.   So not much to report from KC today, other than it will take most of the next week to get the new specs.  And they will cost $200 after all the insurance payments for frames and lenses and the like.

But I ordered transition darkening lenses and the new anti glare coating, and they are tri focals for us old geezers that got started with lines and won't switch...  With the eye exam, the bill would have been the best part of a grand.  Man, nothing seems cheap anymore......
