Remember when the bike looked new?

Goldwing on the day it was new....
The motorcycle used to look like it did on the day I brought it home...  Not a mark on it anywhere....   But now I have ridden all over everywhere and it has become grungy.....

But it has also been rather cool outside for most of January and lots of February too....  But today was the day that we were to be up almost to 80 degrees...

I would like to have been out riding all day on such a nice day, but.......  That bike had to be cleaned up....  And our driveway is fairly steep in front of the garage, so it was out on the sidewalk where this would take place...

With the hose connected and reeled out into the street and a bucket of soapy water and a big sponge, I started in...  There are so many little nooks and crannies all over a motor cycle..  And down on your hands and knees to wash off the wheels....

It was up on its center stand so the back wheel could be turned...  The brakes make all kinds of black dust that sticks on the shiny wheel, its a mess...

Our water out here in East Mesa is water spot heaven...  And the sun was drying stuff before I could get it rinsed.... so it was slow going...  Eventually it was in the garage to be chamois off....  I still have spots...

Its much cleaner now and seems more like it did when new...  I rode it up to the Wal Mart for some supper groceries tonight at dusk and it was a pleasure not to have that red Arizona dust all over the dash and handle bars...  This is the first time I have completely washed all of the bike...

Seems like you just wash at it all the time doing the windshield and the headlight...  Or the back top box....

And I did see 80 degrees for a little while this afternoon on the bike dash thermometer...  Also the big thermometer in the garage was in agreement...... I just knew it was nice!

We grilled out tonight on the weber grill....  Nothing fancy, just some small steaks and microwave baked potatoes..  But it was really nice to have the sliding door open all day..  Biscuit likes the fenced yard with the door open so she can go in and out by herself...

But she has a bad habit of howling at the neighbor's dogs that she can only hear over the tall wall...  Of course they howl back...!

If it wasn't going to be down in the thirties on Wednesday of next week during the night, I would have begun to replant some of the new bushes...  But alas, I won't take that chance..  I did go around with the hose and water each bush that I think will pull out from the frost....  Only time will tell on that one...

  1. I remember when I had my Harley, it was a black FLT with the neatest Gold pin striping and trim. But as you know Black shows dirt faster than any color. For years our police bikes and cruisers were white and that was the easiest color to keep looking clean. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.....

  2. Sounds like we had similar type days, Rod. While you were washing up your bike, I was washing up our rig. We both bbq'd steaks on Weber Grills though so that was the best part of our day!

  3. Always nice to get those chores done. I have been waiting to cut things back in our yard, but this weather has been crazy. Looks like today is going to be beautiful again, definitely going to spend time outside.

    1. And yes I would use the Solution on the bike, but it is in the basement locker of the Motorhome over in the storage lot about 7 miles away.... Need to make a list for the next time I go.....

  5. Does a good coat of wax help with the water spots? At least you know the bike is clean.
